FAQ

Energization is the final step in the utility connection process where electric power is officially turned on to a new building or project. It means your project is now connected to the grid and can receive electricity from SDG&E. To review CPUC energization targets and timelines, click here.

You can begin by submitting a service request through the Builder Services Portal. Make sure to have your detailed project scope, site plans and load calculations ready.

Our Project Resources offers step-by-step guides, forms, manuals, design resources, and lists of approved designers and contractors to assist with new construction or service upgrades.

You can track the progress of all your projects using the Builder Services Portal. This tool allows you to monitor your projects from start to finish and is accessible from your mobile device.

If you have an open project, please contact your SDG&E planner directly. For questions about starting a new project, please call the Customer Project Management (CPM) Hotline at 1-877-789-9866.

If you cannot resolve a delayed timeline with SDG&E within the maximum targets, you may file a delayed energization report with the CPUC.
